PHOTO LABORATORY
Castel Mella, Brescia, IT, 2014In the context of the ancient town of Castel Mella, nearby a restructured courtyard, a house arranged over two floors, which occupies an entire block, becomes the object of a Recovery Plan. After a thorough analysis of existing structures, found that it is impossible to keep them because of their strong degrade, we opted for the entire demolition and reconstruction on original premises. The new building supporting structure consists of brick pillars and load-bearing walls visible in the facade and repeats the typological characteristics of the buildings in the historic nucleus. The perception of volume that was previously occupied by the existing porch on the first floor is offered through the large glazed between the pillars of the facade to ensure great brightness to interiors. The project provides for the adjustment of the installations and the construction of a single double-height space aimed at photographic laboratory, storage and shelter of vehicles and work equipment, in addition to a loft area. The interior finishes, glass and aluminum, and the heating and cooling systems pipes are left to view, denounced the high technological level adopted in this project, in line with the use for which it is intended.
